Annual General Meeting for the year 2021 of KDU Alumni Association was held on 26th November 2021 at the Faculty of Graduate Studies Auditorium, KDU with the participation of Vice Chancellor, KDU Major General Milinda Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil (Ind).

The AGM was conducted maintaining COVID-19 health guidelines, and physical participation was restricted to a limited number while the rest joined online.

Over 170 KDU Alumni/Alumnae representing retired and serving KDU Officers, Post Graduand and Day Scholar Alumni/Alumnae, Academic Staff Alumni/Alumnae, and Administrative Staff Alumni/Alumnae of KDU participated physically, whilst over 300 Alumni joined online both locally and from overseas.

After the lighting of the oil lamp, Acting President of KDU Alumni Association Brigadier Upali Rajapakshe welcomed the gathering, and the Vice Chancellor, KDU addressed the gathering thereafter. The Vice Chancellor highlighted the proper organization of Alumni both locally and overseas and the need for contributing to national development to assist the success of KDU.

During the AGM, the new Constitution of the KDU Alumni Association was discussed in length and ratified later. The following new Office Bearers for the Alumni Association were elected during the meeting:

Immediate Past President of the KDU Alumni Association AVM LHA Silva, before leaving the bench for the new President to take the seat of the Presidency, thanked all the Alumni/Alumnae for the support extended to him during his tenure as the President and remarked that his fullest support would be extended to the new office bearers in moving the Alumni Association towards success.

Treasurer Group Captain Dushan Wijesinghe explained the attendees about the status of Alumni funds, and Brigadier RGU Rajapakshe explained the status of construction of the KDU Monument with the concept of the monument design elaborated.

Raising of overseas Alumni chapters and conducting of Alumni membership drive were discussed in detail during the meeting.

At the end, President Maj Gen KRP Rowel concluded the Annual General Meeting, thanking the organizing committee of the AGM for their commitments and wishing all the Alumni/Alumnae the best.

Following the Annual General Meeting, all the Alumni/Alumnae had a leisure time over refreshments.
