The President of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, promoted Rear Admiral Priyantha Perera to the rank of Vice Admiral and appointed him as the 25th Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy effective from 18th December 2022. With the blessings and contribution of KDU Alumni members, construction work of War Monument at KDU is in progress. The initial ground preparation and micro pilling work have been completed in accordance with the Project Plan. It is planned to complete the construction work of KDU War Monument before end of March 2022.
Annual General Meeting for year 2021 of KDU Alumni Association was held on 26th November 2021 at Faculty of Graduate Studies Auditorium, KDU with the participation of Vice Chancellor, KDU Major General Milinda Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil (Ind). Construction of KDU War Memorial is presently underway with the generous contribution of KDU alumni members of tri forces. The proposed monument will be constructed in front of the parade ground and presently, site preparation is in progress. Construction of the monument at a minimal cost is being undertaken by BPP Engineering (Pvt) Ltd, owned by Mr. Gratian Fernando (Retd. Lieutenant – SLN) who is a product of KDA 5th intake.
