    About Me

    {

    I am a native of Colombo who was enlisted to then Sir John Kotelawala Defence Academy in 1981 and got graduated from KDA/University of Moratuwa in the year 1985.       

    Having got posted to the Corps of Signals in the Army, I initially served as a Troop Commander at the Signal Base Workshop then Officer Commanding, Second in Command of a Divisional Signal Regiment and then was appointed as the Commanding officer of 3rd Signal Regiment in the year 1999. 

    Serving away from the Corps as a staff officer I was initially posted as a Brigade Major of an Infantry Brigade and then as General Staff Officer I (Operations) of an Infantry Division then as the Colonel General Staff of Overall Operations Command in the Northern Theatre. Then I got posted to the Army Command and Staff College as a Member of the Directing Staff and subsequently held the appointments as the Commander 516 Infantry Brigade, Commandant Signals Regimental Centre, Brigadier General Staff of Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna), Commander Signal Brigade, General Officer Commanding 57 Infantry Division (Kilinochchi), Chief Signal Officer and Colonel Commandant Corps of Signals.  

    Having been recalled for active service after retirement, I served as the Director General Research Analysis Projection & Development Branch of the Sri Lanka Army till 15th April 2019. I was recalled for active service again and presently I am serving as the Director General Centre for Defence Research & Development (CDRD) and Project Director of Strategic Defence Communication Network (SDCN) under the Ministry of Defence. I am an Electronics and Telecommunications Charted Engineer by profession and I have followed Signal Young Officers Course in India, Mid Carrier Course in Pakistan, Signal Advance Course in USA, Staff Courses in Sri Lanka and USA, Senior Command Course in India and National Defence University Course in Pakistan. 

    In recognition of the service rendered I was awarded with Rana Wickrama Padakkama (RWP) for bravery in the battle field and Vishishta Seva Vibhushanaya (VSV), Utthama Seva Padakkama (USP) for unblemished record and military conduct. 

    I am married and blessed with three children (one son and two daughters).
