About Me

{I am Retired Lieutenant Colonel Prasanna U. Chandrasiri, RSP, psc, holding a BSc in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Moratuwa/General Sir John Kotelawala Defence Academy and an MSc in Defence Studies from University of Kelaniya.. I commenced my professional journey upon completing my secondary education at Dharmaraja College, Kandy, by joining General Sir John Kotelawala Defence Academy in 1981. I graduated in 1985 and subsequently underwent military training at the Officers Training School in Mangla, Pakistan, before being commissioned into the Corps of Signals of the Sri Lanka Army. Throughout my military tenure, I held several key appointments, including: • Troop Commander and Squadron Commander • Officer Commanding, Signals Base Workshop • Commanding Officer, 3rd Signal Regiment and 6th Signal (RFT) Regiment • Commanding Officer /System Analyst of the Electronic Data Processing Unit • Electronic Warfare Coordinator, Signal Brigade In addition to my technical responsibilities, I served in pivotal operational and staff roles, such as Brigade Major of an Infantry Brigade, General Staff Officer II (Operations) at Army Headquarters, Staff Officer I of Headquarters Signal Brigade, and Colonel General Staff of the 55 Division at the National War Front in 2001. In recognition of my bravery and dedication, I was awarded the prestigious Rana Sura Gallantry Medal. Following 21 years of dedicated military service, I transitioned to the civilian sector, embracing diverse career paths to broaden my professional experience. Entrepreneurial and Civil Sector Contributions • Engineering Projects: I spearheaded the design and construction of the Army antenna tower at Mount Piduruthalagala, the highest peak in Sri Lanka, showcasing my expertise in engineering and project management. • Hospitality Sector: As a hotelier from 2006 to 2016, I conceptualized and developed a holiday resort in Anuradhapura, introducing a novel hospitality culture and elevating industry standards through enhanced market competitiveness. • Corporate Consulting: As a consultant to a leading holding company, I contributed to the research, development, and implementation of four key business verticals aligned with the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDG 1: Eradicate Extreme Poverty and MDG 7: Ensure Environmental Sustainability). My efforts encompassed: o Vector-borne disease control o Food security solutions o Water and air purification initiatives Additionally, I authored corporate security policies and procedures, including crisis management frameworks, and played a pivotal role in ensuring business continuity during the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic crisis, offering strategic solutions to mitigate fuel shortages. I am married and blessed with two daughters, and I continue to seek opportunities to leverage my diverse skill set in meaningful ventures.}
